Big-Day Halt

Big-Day Halt is part of the T&B Railway Co. est 2016. The Heads of the railway, who are a married couple, wondered “How hard can it be to run your own railway?”

By pure luck and help from fellow Directors of other regional railways, namely Buggleskelly Station, run by Director Tom Marshall, and Model Railway Quest industries, Head of Directors Dawn Quest. They were able to create a light railway….of sorts.

Motive transport is a mixture of 0-4-0 and 0-6-0 locomotives from different industrial and regional railway. (That is to say, if it was cheap, they would have it!), it’s the same for the station and railway infrastructure.

The line runs both passenger and freight services, mainly from the James May Gin Distillery which the proceedings help with the railways up keep.

For special events T&B Railways reached out to the Director of The North Western Railway to ‘Borrow’ their flagship locomotive number one. A deal was struck up on the promise of a Gin tanker as payment.

Layout plan:

The plan was for a small, but I interesting loop on a 3ft square base board that could accommodate a wedding cake. It was decided on a basic oval with a single siding to accommodate the station and platform.

Mainly polystyrene, and foam was used for the scenic structure to keep it light and for strength.

Lightning is also installed for extra detail.

We would like to thank Tom Marshall, Dawn Quest and Hornby Hobbies for their continued help and  support in our very first model railway build.
