“Waalhaven” depicts a Strukton Rail depot (the Dutch division of Nederlandse Spoorwegen responsible for all of the rail infrastructure), based in the Rotterdam Europort where much of the materiel required is brought in by barge to nearby wharves.

The layout is set at the turn of the century as the Dutch Railways started to open up to private operators. Facilities at the yard include various sheds and waterside warehouses where dry materials are brought in by wagons and then distributed on works trains to wherever they are needed on the NS network. as well as a container maintenance area. The locomotives and wagons in use depict the various liveries of Railion and Strukton.

The layout measures 10ft x 15”, giving a 10ft scenic area. The layout can be transported in a single car and is operated by two operators.
